Snow & Municipal Buildings Announcement: January 26, 2026 at 9:20 PM

The City of Watertown’s snow emergency will be lifted at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The on-street parking ban remains in effect until that time.

Important Notice about Parking

All vehicles currently parked in a school parking lot are required to be removed at 6:00 AM. Vehicles parked in all other City-provided lots are required to be removed by 7:00 AM. Vehicles not removed promptly will hinder snow removal operations and are subject to towing. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.

Municipal Buildings Update

The below Watertown municipal buildings are open normal hours tomorrow, Tuesday January 27:

  • Watertown City Hall
  • Watertown Free Public Library – with limited parking due to snow removal operations
  • Parker Building
  • Watertown Department of Public Works
  • John A. Ryan Arena

Watertown Public Schools and the Senior Center are closed again on Tuesday, January 27.

City Recreation programs have been cancelled on Tuesday, January 27.

Trash & Recycling Reminder

All trash and recycling is delayed one day this week. Pickup will occur from Tuesday, January 27 through Saturday, January 31, 2026. Please place your bins in an area clear of snow, like the apron of your driveway, to allow plenty of space for the trucks to pick up your bins.

Clearing Snow from Sidewalks

Property owners are responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfall ending. Please help Watertown stay safe and accessible during the winter season, and please do not shovel snow into the street.

To learn more about the residential snow shoveling responsibilities, please visit watertown-ma.gov/1237/Residential-Snow-Ice-Removal-Ordinance-F for more information and to learn if you qualify for the snow shoveling exemption program.
