Congregate Housing / Adult Day Health Care

Congregate Housing

Congregate Housing is a shared living environment designed to integrate the housing and service needs of income-eligible elders and younger disabled individuals. Residents have their own room and share the common areas of a house. Individuals in need of 24 hours, 7 days a week supervision are not appropriate for congregate housing. Locally, there are two sites managed by Newton and Waltham Housing Authorities in conjunction with Springwell. Springwell coordinates support services and placement for elder residents. Call Springwell at 617-926-4100 for more information.

Supportive Housing

The Supportive Housing Initiative was developed by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Department of Housing and Community Development, to create an assisted living-like environment in State-funded elderly/disabled public housing. Watertown Housing Authority participates in this program, which is available at Woodland Towers and is administered by Springwell. Call the Watertown Housing Authority at 617-923-3950 for more information.

Adult Day Health Care

Adult Day Health Care provides community-based day health care in a safe environment to individuals with a variety of cognitive and functional limitations who do not require 24 hours, 7 days a week institutional care, yet are not capable of full-time, independent living. They are designed to assist the individual, obtain his / her maximum level of health, prevent further disabilities, and provide respite for family members / caregivers.
