Student Awareness of Fire Education

As part of the Massachusetts Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) grant the Watertown Fire Department is able to provide fire and life safety education to the students of Watertown. Students learn and practice key skills and behaviors that will greatly increase their effectiveness in the event of an emergency. The following is a list of some of the lessons we teach:

  • Stop, drop and roll
  • Crawling low under smoke
  • Home escape planning
  • Match and lighter safety
  • Recognizing an emergency and dialing 9-1-1
