Household Sharps Disposal & Collection
Syringes may be discarded by bringing them to the Household Sharps Collection days. Follow these tips (PDF) while handling syringes.
Household sharps collection days:
- March 8, 2025 from 9 am to noon
- June 3, 2025 from 3-6pm
- August 2, 2025 from 9 am to noon
- December 6, 2025 from 9 am to noon

Watertown Residents can bring the following items on collection days:
- Locked sharps containers.
- Used needles, syringes, and lancets, stored in sturdy puncture proof containers.
- Unused capped needles, syringes and lancets in original packaging.
- Unused EpiPen’s in original containers.
Proof of Watertown residency is required. No Medical Waste or Commercial Sharps accepted.
A Sharps Kiosk is now available inside the Parker Building, located at 124 Watertown St. Watertown, near the back door of the building.
The doors to the Parker Building are unlocked for normal City Hall hours, from 8:30am-5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays; from 8:30am-7pm Tuesdays; and from 8:30am-12:30pm on Fridays.
Follow These Easy Steps to Safely Place Sharps in a Collection Bin:
- 1. Place sharps into a sealed, puncture-resistant container with a capacity of ≤ 1 gallon
- 2. Securely close and/or seal the container
- 3. Place Container in Bin
- No loose needles!
